Community Holds Peace Walk and Candle Lighting in Memory of Fr. Alois Cheruiyot Bett

A large gathering of community members convened today at Silverline Roundabout for a peace walk and candle lighting ceremony to honor the late Fr. Alois Cheruiyot Bett, a well-loved priest and mentor in Nakuru.

Fr. Bett was remembered as a friend to many young people, a brother to all, and a priest who served across different denominations. His passing has left a deep void in the community.

Kelvin Kipleting, Youth President, spoke to the crowd, expressing his condolences to the family and appreciation for those who showed up. “We wish to thank everyone who came out today to participate in this peace walk and candle lighting in memory of Fr. Alois Cheruiyot Bett. He was a friend to many young people, a brother to everyone, and a priest of all denominations. Poleni sana kwa familia kwa kupoteza mtu mungu wana alipenda kila mtu,” Kipleting said.

He also acknowledged the support of community members who helped organize the event, including Mc Stano Sigindet, who voluntarily provided his car and public address system, and Victor Rotich, the Youth Representative and cameraman for the day. Kipleting thanked Chebo Nandi for her important role in planning the event and Fr. Bett’s classmates who stood by the family during this difficult time.

“We will continue sending our condolences and standing with the family as they mourn the loss of this great man,” Kipleting added.

The event reflected the strong community spirit and the lasting impact Fr. Bett had on those he served.
