Senator Mandago Leads Leaders in Honouring Late Father Alloys Bett

Leaders and faithful from across Uasin Gishu County gathered at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Church in Eldoret on Monday for the requiem mass of Father Alloys Cheruiyot Bett, a respected Catholic priest remembered for his lifelong service to the church and the community.

Among those in attendance was Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, who described the late cleric as an “irreplaceable spiritual shepherd” and a guiding light to many.

“We gathered not merely in formal tribute, but in shared sorrow, mourning the irreplaceable loss of a spiritual leader who faithfully served his flock,” Senator Mandago said.

Father Bett, who served in various parishes across the Rift Valley, was praised for his humility, wisdom, and dedication to pastoral work. Church leaders and political figures joined together in remembering him as a man who built bridges, fostered unity, and remained committed to the values of faith and compassion.

Senator Mandago noted that Father Bett’s influence extended far beyond the pulpit, offering spiritual counsel and moral guidance during times of both celebration and hardship.

“His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the faith he nurtured, and the peace he preached,” added the senator.

The late priest will be laid to rest on Tuesday, with hundreds expected to attend the burial service. The Catholic Diocese of Eldoret has called on mourners to continue praying for the soul of Father Bett and for strength for his family and the wider church community.
