The 5th Edition of the NYS National Athletics Championship, held at the NYS Turbo Field Unit, received a significant boost on May 24th, 2025, with the presence of Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, the Chief Principal of the institution, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. His attendance highlighted the growing collaboration between the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TENP) and the National Youth Service (NYS).
Dr. Koech was joined by a distinguished delegation, including the Deputy Principal (Administration), Mr. Paul Seurey, Senior Records Officer Musa Kibet, and Students' President Darius Kipchirchir. Together, they showcased the strong leadership and support TENP provides to youth engagement in sports, fostering holistic development among young Kenyans.
The event was further honored by the presence of Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, Principal Secretary for Public Service, who delivered an inspiring speech underscoring the role of sports in national development and youth empowerment. She was accompanied by the NYS Commandant General, James Tembur, marking a powerful partnership between government entities dedicated to uplifting Kenyan youth.
In his address, Dr. Koech emphasized the importance of collaboration between TENP and NYS, noting that such engagements not only enhance athletic prowess but also nurture the spirit of teamwork and discipline among the youth. "This event is a testament to the commitment we have to providing platforms for our young people to excel, not just academically but in every aspect of life," Dr. Koech remarked.
