John Mining Urges Youth to Embrace Abstinence in New Public Message

By Dr. John Mining

Christian relationship teacher John Mining has released a new message urging young people and unmarried adults to commit to abstinence until marriage, describing the choice as both spiritually meaningful and personally strengthening.

In his statement, Mining emphasized that abstinence is achievable for anyone, regardless of their past. “Whether you have had sex in the past or you are brand new—untouched, unkissed, and unmessed with—you can choose today to stay sexually pure, clean, and holy,” he said.

Mining also addressed those who have been sexually active, encouraging them not to feel condemned. “You can choose to be a virgin for Jesus,” he stated, adding that spiritual renewal is available to everyone.

Mining’s Guidelines for Abstinence

In his message, Mining offered practical steps for those seeking to remain abstinent. Among his recommendations:

  • “Daily ask God for help to keep you till you are married.”
  • “Avoid all dirty, flirty, and romantic chats.”
  • “Stay away from pornography, romantic music, videos, and posts.”
  • “Avoid being in lonely and tempting places with your fiancé or fiancée.”

He also stressed the importance of spiritual discipline. “Feed on the word of God—meditate on it morning, noon, and night,” Mining said, citing passages from Joshua, Psalms, and Romans.

Mining warned against negative influences, stating: “Evil communication corrupts good manners. Avoid ungodly friends.”

He further encouraged individuals to pray for partners who share the same convictions, saying: “Pray for a godly man or woman who won’t tempt you to have sex before marriage.”

Addressing Struggles and Pressures

Mining acknowledged that many young adults experience strong sexual urges or face societal pressure. “If your libido is rising at an alarming rate and you are due for marriage with no partner in sight, seek help and guidance,” he advised.

Regarding masturbation and sexual habits, he remained firm. “Avoid masturbation like plague,” he said, urging those who are struggling not to feel hopeless.

“If you are neck-deep in sexual sins and want to stop but don’t know how, you can be set free,” Mining added, pointing readers toward spiritual resources he believes can provide support.

A Message to Both Men and Women

Mining concluded his address by reminding listeners that abstinence is not gender-specific. “Virginity is for both males and females, boys and girls, men and women,” he said. “God is proud of you—and I am too.”
