Uasin Gishu Youth President Kelvin Kipleting Marks Birthday Reflecting on Struggle, Sacrifice, and Resilience
Kelvin Kipleting, the Youth President of Uasin Gishu County, celebrated his birthday today with a heartfelt reflection on his journey from humble beginnings to political leadership, highlighting the trials, sacrifices, and perseverance that have shaped his life.
In a statement shared with the media, Kipleting recounted growing up in a small, rural village as the son of a peasant, describing a childhood filled with hardship and the relentless challenges of poverty.
“I have walked through things I never imagined. I have been hit by every kind of stone life can throw,” Kipleting said, adding that joining politics exposed him to the harsh realities of leadership firsthand.
He reflected on the difficulties faced during the 2022 elections, a period he described as one of the toughest seasons of his life. Despite warnings from his family to avoid politics, Kipleting said he was driven by an inner calling to serve, even when he had to stand alone.
“Today, I celebrate my birthday, knowing I am harvesting the few fruits that grew from the seeds I planted with struggle, sacrifice, and sleepless nights,” he said.
Kipleting acknowledged the personal attacks, betrayals, and obstacles he has faced in his political and personal journey, including manipulation, isolation, and humiliation. Yet, he emphasized gratitude for still standing strong, moving forward, and growing despite adversity.
“I celebrate as a man whose name has been dragged, twisted, and tarnished without reason. I celebrate as a man who started as a simple village leader and, step by step, kept moving forward,” he said.
He dedicated his birthday to those who have supported him and witnessed the sacrifices made, with a special mention to his mother:
“Thank you, Mum, for giving birth to this man. One day, you will see the results of your sacrifice. Amen.”
