Githunguri Constituency is undergoing a remarkable transformation under the astute leadership of Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba, whose three-year development dossier exemplifies visionary governance, strategic investment, and a resolute commitment to socio-economic advancement. Her tenure has been marked by sweeping interventions across education, infrastructure, security, agriculture, and youth empowerment, positioning Githunguri as a beacon of progressive constituency development in Kiambu County.

In the realm of education, Hon Wamuchomba has instituted a paradigm shift by enhancing learning environments and expanding access to critical facilities. Modern ablution blocks have been meticulously constructed at Ciiko Primary School, Kwa Mukua Secondary School, Kiambururu Secondary School, Githioro Primary School, Thuita Primary School, Mitahato Primary School, Githiga Primary School, Gathiruini Primary School, and Riamute Primary School. Complementing this, a thousand state-of-the-art lockers have been installed across Matuguta, Gatitu, Kambui, Kamondo, Kanyore, Mukua, Gathanje, Gathaithi, Kahunira, Kagema, and Kanjai Primary Schools. Security and boundary enhancement measures include new perimeter walls at Githiga and Kiawairia Primary Schools, while Ciiko Primary School has been comprehensively paved with cabro, elevating the institution’s aesthetic and functional quality.

The MP has simultaneously invested in modern science laboratories to facilitate experiential learning, constructed at Matuguta, Githunguri, Ndireti, and Ngewa Primary Schools, alongside the renovation of four classrooms at Gathugu Primary School. Additionally, the constituency-wide Chakula Moto Moto na Maathe feeding programme ensures consistent nutrition for all learners in public primary and day secondary schools, thereby augmenting attendance, focus, and academic performance.

Security infrastructure has been substantially fortified through the establishment of Ikinu Police Station in Ikinu Ward, Kibichoi Police Station in Komothai Ward, Kanjuku Police Station in Githunguri Ward, Ngeteti Police Post in Ngewa Ward, Gathaithi Police Post in Githiga Ward, and Kiambururu Police Post in Ngewa Ward. These strategic installations have enhanced law enforcement presence, expedited emergency response, and fostered a safer environment for residents.

Infrastructure development, particularly road construction and rehabilitation, has been transformative, enhancing connectivity, trade, and accessibility across all wards. Key corridors such as Githunguri Ikinu Road and Githunguri Moi Road have been fully tarmacked, while the Mau Mau link roads, including the Gitombo Gituamba stretch, are under significant upgrade. Ikinu Ward has benefitted from the Githunguri Ndumberi Road, Karia Hospital Road, Lioki Junction Road, and Kamondo Gatitu Githiga Road. Komothai Ward has recorded substantial improvements, including Kiabuaini Gititu Kigumo Road, Kiawairia Gathiruini Pleasant View Kirura Gathugu Road, Gathugu Gitwe Gachika Road, Kiamworia Road, Korokoro Kibichoi Road, Gatina Kigumo Road, Komothai Girls Kigumo Road, and Gathiruini Karenge Road.

Githunguri Ward has seen notable enhancement of the Ruiru Dam Githunguri Road, Kanjuku Matangini Riamute Miguta Road, Kanjuku Kamakwa Minja Gathanga Maguna Road, Kahunira Ngeteti Kianjege Waingere Mathanja Kambaa Road, Jamaika Kwa Mukua Maishomo Hakangwana Road, and Wanjo Jamaica Road. In Githiga Ward, road projects encompass Kambaa Njenga Road, Gathangari Gatina Road, Miumia Kwa Nguku Road, Thakwa Githiga Ngorongo Road, and Wakagwi Githaiti Road, while Ngewa Ward has witnessed rehabilitation of Kwa Ndonga Mitahato Riagithu Road, Kang’engu Miirano Kaimbururu Kamuchege Road, Kwa Jehova Link Road, Gakoe Waruhiu Road, and Mitahato Gathirimu Road. These developments have catalyzed economic activity, enhanced market access, and stimulated commercial vibrancy.

Agricultural transformation has been a central pillar of Hon Wamuchomba’s agenda. The forthcoming Waruhiu Aggregation Centre is poised to revolutionize avocado value addition within Githunguri and the wider Kiambu County, complemented by a livestock feeds manufacturing facility, creating unprecedented economic avenues for farmers and youth entrepreneurs. The revitalisation of the coffee sector, commencing with Komothai Coffee Mill, has introduced dynamic management structures, resulting in significantly increased payout rates and renewed confidence among stakeholders. Furthermore, the establishment of the Githunguri Avocado Growers Association is strategically designed to enhance productivity, facilitate market expansion, and actively involve young people in agribusiness innovation.

Hon Gathoni Wamuchomba’s three-year development portfolio exemplifies strategic foresight, meticulous planning, and a resolute commitment to community upliftment. Her transformative interventions in education, security, infrastructure, and agriculture have not only elevated the quality of life for residents but also positioned Githunguri as a model constituency, exemplifying inclusive growth, sustainable development, and enduring prosperity.
