Young Pool Star Herbert Mukisa Begins School Journey with Support from MP Oscar Sudi

Rising pool talent Herbert Mukisa, who captivated audiences with his outstanding performance at the Timba XO Pool Tournament, has officially begun his educational journey at Landmark Junior School in Zzana, Uganda — with a special boost from an unexpected supporter: Kenyan Member of Parliament Hon. Oscar Kipchumba Sudi.

The Kapseret legislator, known for championing youth empowerment across East Africa, has stepped in to support the young prodigy’s academic and athletic pursuits. In a symbolic gesture, MP Sudi not only facilitated Herbert’s school enrollment but also gifted him a pool table — a move aimed at helping the youngster maintain a balance between his studies and his passion for the sport.

“Herbert represents what is possible when talent is nurtured early,” said Hon. Sudi during a brief ceremony in Zzana. “He’s not just a champion on the pool table — he’s a bright, determined young man with a future that stretches far beyond the spotlight of competition.”

Mukisa first rose to national attention after his standout performance at the Timba XO Pool Tournament, where his sharp skills and calm demeanor belied his young age. His story quickly caught the attention of sports fans and community leaders alike, sparking conversations about supporting gifted children in unconventional fields.

Now at Landmark Junior School, the young player will begin formal studies while continuing to refine his cue skills during his free time. Teachers at the school have expressed excitement at having Mukisa on board and have pledged to support both his academic and athletic goals.

Sudi emphasized that this act of support is part of a broader vision of empowering youth across borders.

“Supporting Herbert is about more than one child. It’s about setting an example — that talent, no matter where it’s found, deserves a chance to grow. Education and sport are not separate paths. For Herbert, they will walk hand in hand.”

Local leaders and community members in Zzana praised the initiative, saying it reflects the kind of pan-African solidarity and investment in the next generation that the continent needs.

As Herbert begins this new chapter, he carries with him the weight of expectation, hope — and the quiet determination that has already made him a champion in the eyes of many.
