Police Recover Suspected Stolen Motorcycle Parts, Arrest Two in Kilifi Raid

Police in Kilifi have recovered a motorcycle and several suspected stolen parts following a targeted operation against illegal scrap metal dealers in the Majengo area. The raid, conducted on June 2, 2025, by officers from Mtwapa Police Station, was prompted by a public tip-off.

Acting on credible intelligence, police raided two scrap metal yards suspected of purchasing and concealing stolen motorcycles. During the operation, officers discovered one complete motorcycle and multiple dismantled parts hidden in plastic sacks.

The managers of both scrap yards were arrested at the scene and are currently in police custody. Authorities confirmed that the suspects will be processed and arraigned in court as investigations continue.“We commend the vigilance of community members whose information was instrumental in this operation,” said a statement from the National Police Service (NPS). “The fight against crime, especially theft of motorcycles which affects livelihoods, requires strong collaboration between the public and law enforcement.”

Motorcycle theft has become a growing concern in parts of the coastal region, with many operators falling victim to criminal networks that dismantle and resell stolen bikes for spare parts.

The NPS has assured the public of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and has urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities in their communities.

Investigations are ongoing to trace the origins of the recovered parts and determine whether the suspects are linked to a wider motorcycle theft ring operating in the region.
