Governor Rotich Commissions Key Development Projects During Tour of Tambach Ward

Tambach Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County is set to benefit from improved healthcare services and enhanced road accessibility following the commissioning of several development projects by Governor Wisley Rotich during a working tour on Wednesday.

The Governor, accompanied by senior county officials and local leaders, commissioned new projects and inspected ongoing developments aimed at improving the quality of life for residents across Tambach, Kipkaa, and Kessup.

Among the key highlights of the tour was the handover of an ambulance to Tambach Ward, a move that is expected to significantly reduce patient referral costs to the Iten County Referral Hospital.

“Access to emergency services is a critical part of healthcare delivery. With this ambulance, we are cutting response times and easing the burden on our people,” Governor Rotich said.

To address infrastructure challenges, the Governor also handed over a grader earmarked for Tambach Ward to assist in road maintenance. This initiative is expected to reduce road maintenance costs and redirect funds to other vital development programs.

In the health sector, the Governor broke ground for the construction of a laboratory at Tambach Sub County Hospital, and handed over a full haemogram machine along with other essential medical equipment to bolster diagnostic services at the facility.

The Governor also joined over 500 residents for a free medical screening at the hospital, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to preventative healthcare and community wellness.

Other stops on the development tour included:

  • Inspection of the ongoing construction of a cereal store in Kessup, intended to support last-mile fertilizer distribution for local farmers.

  • Inspection of Kapchebar Dispensary, aimed at assessing readiness for expansion and service improvement.

  • Inspection of the ongoing upgrading of the Kongin-Chemelkut Road, a critical rural access road that supports agricultural transport.

Governor Rotich also took time to engage directly with residents of Kipkaa, Tambach, and Kessup, listening to their concerns and updating them on county plans.

He was joined by a host of county officials including Tambach MCA Dominic Chesire, Soy North MCA Simon Chepseba, County Secretary Lazarus Chebii, CECs Monica Rotich and Emmy Kosgei, Chief Officers Isaac Koech, Caroline Magut, Lorna Kipsang, and other county staff.

Governor Rotich emphasized that his administration remains focused on delivering results-driven development that responds to community needs.

“Our promise is to bring services closer to the people. These projects are part of our larger agenda to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected Elgeyo Marakwet,” he concluded.
