In a remarkable show of community spirit and collaboration, more than 4,000 residents from Uasin Gishu County and neighboring areas turned up for a Free Medical Camp held at Murgor Primary School in Kesses Sub-County.
The event, spearheaded by the Mpesa Foundation in partnership with the Gladys Boss Shollei Foundation, provided vital healthcare services to 4,324 individuals. Services ranged from general outpatient consultations and dental and eye check-ups to maternal health services and cancer screenings — all offered at no cost to the public.
Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Boss Shollei expressed heartfelt gratitude to the residents for embracing the initiative, and to the dedicated medical professionals and volunteers who made the day a success.
“This camp was more than a medical outreach — it was a statement of unity, compassion, and our shared responsibility to ensure no one is left behind when it comes to access to healthcare,” said Shollei. “I am incredibly thankful to the Mpesa Foundation, our incredible medical teams, and every volunteer who gave their time and energy to serve our people.”
The camp not only aimed at improving access to essential health services but also at raising awareness about preventive care in rural and underserved communities.
Community members expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, with many noting that the services provided would have been financially inaccessible for them otherwise.“We are not just treating illness,” Shollei added. “We are restoring dignity and saving lives.”
The Women Representative pledged to continue advocating for improved healthcare access across Uasin Gishu and called upon other leaders and institutions to prioritize community health through similar collaborative efforts.
“Asante sana to everyone who made this possible. Together, we can build a healthier, stronger Uasin Gishu,” she concluded.
