Governor Natembeya Hails Progress of 20,000-Seater Kenyatta Stadium as a Game-Changer for Trans Nzoia

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has celebrated the significant progress made in the construction of the ultramodern 20,000-seater Kenyatta Stadium, calling it a “monumental milestone” in the county’s development agenda.

Speaking at the construction site during an inspection tour, Governor Natembeya confirmed that Phase One of the project is progressing smoothly and remains on schedule — marking a bold step forward in transforming Trans Nzoia into a regional sports and events powerhouse.

“This stadium is not just a structure — it is a statement of ambition and progress. It will redefine how we host sports, nurture talent, create jobs, and bring people together,” Natembeya said. “Trans Nzoia ni kazi tu!”

A Catalyst for Sports, Culture, and the Economy

Once completed, the stadium is expected to:

  • Enhance local and national sports activities by offering a world-class venue for football, athletics, and other competitions.

  • Serve as a hub for cultural and entertainment events, enriching the social and artistic life of the county.

  • Drive economic growth through job creation, small business opportunities, and increased tourism traffic into Kitale and its surroundings.

Governor Natembeya underscored the importance of such infrastructure in preparing youth for national and international competition. “Our athletes, our artists, and our people deserve nothing less than the best. This stadium will be a home for talent and a magnet for investment.”

Community Excitement and Support

Residents and local leaders have expressed strong support for the project, with many hailing it as a transformative investment that will open up new opportunities for the region’s youth and business communities.

“This is the kind of development we have waited for,” said Janet Mutemi, a local trader in Kitale. “With events here, we’ll have more customers, more business, and more life in this town.”

A Vision for the Future

Governor Natembeya reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and youth empowerment, noting that the stadium is only one piece of a broader vision for a vibrant, modern Trans Nzoia.

“We are building not just for today, but for the future. This stadium will stand as a symbol of our unity, our energy, and our unstoppable drive to succeed,” he said.

As work on the stadium continues, anticipation is high for the day it opens its gates to the public — ready to host dreams, victories, celebrations, and unforgettable moments.
