Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has praised the installation of the Luo Council of Elders in Eldoret, calling it a powerful affirmation of cultural unity, inclusivity, and inter-community harmony.
Speaking at the vibrant ceremony attended by leaders and residents from across the region, Governor Bii emphasized the critical role elders play in upholding values, traditions, and peace within Kenyan society.
“Elders are the respected pillars of our society—guardians of wisdom, culture, and continuity across generations,” he said.
The event brought together members of the Luo community and dignitaries from various parts of the country. Notable leaders in attendance included Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi and Kapseret Member of Parliament Hon. Oscar Sudi, among others.
Governor Bii noted that the installation ceremony transcended tradition, describing it as a unifying event that underlines Kenya’s diverse but shared cultural identity.
“Today’s installation ceremony of the Luo Council of Elders in Eldoret is a celebration of heritage, unity, and community leadership,” he remarked.
Highlighting Uasin Gishu’s cosmopolitan character, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal representation for all communities.
“As a cosmopolitan county, we are supporting all communities and promoting inclusivity at every level,” Bii stated, calling on residents to uphold peace and mutual respect.
He concluded with an appeal for continued inter-community dialogue and cooperation, noting that peace and unity are essential for sustainable development and national cohesion.
The ceremony marked a significant step toward strengthening cultural bonds and fostering cross-cultural understanding in the region.
