Uasin Gishu Woman Representative and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Gladys Boss Shollei, has lauded the outstanding performances of Kenyan athletes at the Rome Diamond League, highlighting their achievements as a testament to the nation's prowess in athletics.

In a statement released today, Shollei expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of Beatrice Chebet, Timothy Cheruiyot, and Ferdinand Omanyala. She commended Chebet for setting a new Kenyan record in the women's 5000m with a time of 14:03.69, noting that such feats inspire the youth of Uasin Gishu and the entire country. "Beatrice's achievement is a clear indication that with dedication and hard work, we can reach greater heights," Shollei remarked.

Regarding Cheruiyot's second-place finish in the men's 1500m, Shollei highlighted his consistent excellence and leadership in middle-distance running. "Timothy's performance underscores the depth of talent in our nation and serves as a motivation for upcoming athletes," she added.

On Omanyala's third-place finish in the men's 100m, Shollei acknowledged the strides being made in Kenyan sprinting, an area traditionally dominated by other nations. "Ferdinand's performance is a testament to the evolving landscape of Kenyan athletics, where sprinters are now making their mark on the global stage," she stated.

Shollei emphasized the importance of supporting and nurturing athletic talent, especially among the youth in Uasin Gishu County. She reiterated her commitment to facilitating programs that provide young athletes with the resources and opportunities needed to excel. "As a county, we will continue to invest in sports infrastructure and mentorship programs to ensure that our athletes have the best possible environment to thrive," Shollei affirmed.

Concluding her statement, Shollei expressed confidence that the achievements of these athletes would inspire a new generation to pursue excellence in sports, further solidifying Kenya's reputation as a powerhouse in athletics.

"Let us all rally behind our athletes and continue to support them in every way possible," Shollei urged.
