Women Leaders Unite at Convocation to ‘Rise and Rebuild’ Ahead of National Prayer Breakfast

Women leaders from across the nation gathered at the Safari Park Hotel this morning for a powerful convocation themed “Rise and Rebuild with Faith and Steadfast Grace,” setting a spiritual and reflective tone ahead of the 22nd National Prayer Breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, May 28.

The event, attended by legislators, religious leaders, civil society representatives, and international guests, was led by the Co-Chairs of the Parliamentary Christian Women Caucus—Hon. Naomi Waqo, Deputy Majority Whip, and Senator Veronica Maina. The convocation aimed to mobilize women of faith to take an active role in fostering national healing, peace, and development through prayer and unity.

“We know the challenges we have gone through as a nation,” said Hon. Waqo. “As women, what can we do to rebuild? Today we ask ourselves this critical question and reaffirm our commitment to pray for peace, love, unity, and prosperity.”

Senator Veronica Maina emphasized the transformative power of prayer, recalling the peaceful 2022 general elections as a testament to women’s spiritual intervention. “When women pray, things happen. It’s not business as usual. Prayer is our foundation for change,” she stated.

In her keynote address, Apostle Isi Igenegba, Founder of the People of Influence Network in Nigeria, urged leaders to embrace a paradigm shift to rebuild the nation. She called for sacrificial leadership and tough but necessary decisions to restore integrity and progress in governance.

Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome, delivered a passionate call for women to rise above political affiliations and work collectively for the common good. “It is time to pull together. The people we represent deserve better livelihoods, and we must be at the forefront of that transformation,” she declared.

The Women's Convocation served as a spiritual and inspirational prelude to the National Prayer Breakfast, which will be led by the Speakers of Parliament and graced by H.E. President William Ruto, alongside international dignitaries.

The event ended on a high note, with a united call to women across Kenya to continue leading with faith, resilience, and a shared vision for a stronger, more inclusive nation.
