Huduma Mashinani Initiative Launched in Kiminini to Bring Government Services Closer to the People

The County Government of Trans-Nzoia has officially launched the Huduma Mashinani initiative in Kiminini Subcounty, marking a significant step toward decentralizing service delivery and ensuring government services reach residents at the grassroots level.

Led by Governor George Natembeya, the launch drew hundreds of residents who turned out to access a wide range of public services — including health care, civil registration, agricultural support, and county administrative services — all offered directly within their community.

“Our goal is simple but powerful: to make sure no one is left behind,” Governor Natembeya said during the launch. “Huduma Mashinani is about meeting people where they live, work, and farm — not waiting for them to come to us.”

The initiative aims to bridge service delivery gaps, especially in rural and underserved areas, by moving essential government functions out of traditional offices and into local communities. Kiminini is the first stop in a wider rollout that will eventually cover all subcounties in Trans-Nzoia.

County officials and staff set up mobile service desks and held interactive forums to listen to residents' concerns and gather feedback on service gaps. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the county for bringing government services closer to the people.

Nurse-led health camps, legal aid desks, youth empowerment booths, and agricultural extension services were among the key offerings on Day One of the program. Residents also had opportunities to voice their concerns directly to county leadership.

Governor Natembeya emphasized that this is just the beginning of a sustained effort to strengthen people-centered governance in Trans-Nzoia.

“We are moving Huduma from the offices to the grassroots. This is not a one-day event — it is a long-term commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and equity in public service,” he said.
