Western Two-Term Brigade Endorses Ruto, Highlights ‘Tangible Transformation’ in Region

Leaders allied to the Western Two-Term Brigade have officially declared their support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid, citing visible development gains in Western Kenya during the first three years of his administration.

Speaking during a church service in Mumias, the brigade’s chairperson, Kenneth Lusaka, said the decision to back the Head of State was informed by tangible progress, including the revival of key industries and significant improvements in road infrastructure.

“The period President Ruto has been in office may be short, but the impact is evident. We have seen factories revived, roads improved, and development projects initiated across our counties. Our support is based on performance, not rhetoric,” Lusaka said.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa echoed the sentiments, noting that the region’s future depended on aligning with the national government rather than joining opposition politics.

“This is about the future of our people. We cannot afford to make political decisions that push our region away from development opportunities. What matters is results, and those are coming from the government side,” Barasa stated.

Leaders also cautioned residents against what they described as “misleading narratives” propagated by politicians pushing for a united opposition front in Western Kenya, insisting that partnerships with the national government were already yielding dividends.

On the debate surrounding the 2027 running mate position, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula urged political actors to respect the President’s prerogative.

“The choice of a deputy president is solely the President’s decision. What should matter to us is service delivery and loyalty to the development agenda,” Savula said.

Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau described their support for Ruto as strategic and forward-looking.

“We are supporting President Ruto because he has demonstrated vision and commitment to transforming this region. We are looking ahead, not behind,” Bisau noted.

Other leaders present at the Mumias service included Vihiga Woman Representative Beatrice Adagala, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, and Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.

The endorsement by the Western Two-Term Brigade signals a consolidation of support for President Ruto in one of Kenya’s key political regions, setting the stage for the 2027 general elections.
