LifeCare Hospitals Eldoret has successfully concluded an intensive Code Blue Skills Training program for its nursing and paramedical staff, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to emergency preparedness, patient safety, and clinical excellence.

The training, led by Dr. Biruk Abera, In-House Anesthesiologist and Critical Care Intensivist, focused on equipping staff with critical skills to respond effectively during life-threatening medical emergencies. The program included hands-on simulations, role-playing exercises, and emergency response drills designed to replicate real-life scenarios where every second counts.

“Emergency preparedness isn’t optional — it’s essential,” Dr. Abera said during the training. “The ability to act swiftly, confidently, and correctly in critical situations can mean the difference between life and death. Our goal is to ensure that every member of our team is ready to respond when emergencies arise.”

Hands-On Learning for Real-Life Scenarios

During the training, participants were exposed to a variety of high-pressure scenarios, including cardiac arrest, severe trauma, respiratory distress, and other critical incidents that require immediate intervention. Using state-of-the-art simulation equipment, staff practiced advanced resuscitation techniques, rapid response coordination, and critical decision-making under pressure.

Nursing staff who participated in the program expressed enthusiasm for the hands-on approach. “The simulations were incredibly realistic,” said Jane Mwangi, a senior nurse at LifeCare Hospitals. “Being able to practice emergency procedures in a safe, controlled environment has boosted my confidence. I now feel more prepared to act decisively during real emergencies.”

Paramedical staff also highlighted the value of teamwork and communication training included in the sessions. “Emergencies require coordination and clear communication,” said Peter Kiprono, a paramedic at the hospital. “This training has reinforced how critical it is for all team members to know their roles and work seamlessly together.”

Continuous Training for Safer Patient Care

Hospital management emphasized that the Code Blue Skills Training is part of LifeCare Hospitals’ ongoing staff development initiatives. “Continuous training ensures that our staff remain updated on best practices in emergency care,” said a hospital spokesperson. “It strengthens our teams, improves patient outcomes, and reinforces our hospital’s commitment to providing safe, timely, and high-quality care.”

The training program is expected to become a regular feature at LifeCare Hospitals Eldoret, with plans to expand participation to all clinical staff across different departments. This approach ensures that emergency response protocols are standardized and that all personnel are prepared to handle critical incidents efficiently and professionally.

Commitment to Community and Clinical Excellence

LifeCare Hospitals Eldoret prides itself on being a leader in patient-centered care and clinical excellence in the region. The Code Blue Skills Training initiative highlights the hospital’s proactive approach to equipping staff with the tools and knowledge needed to save lives.

“Every life matters, and being prepared for emergencies is non-negotiable,” Dr. Abera added. “Our training ensures that staff are not only technically proficient but also psychologically prepared to handle high-stress situations. This is an investment in our patients, our staff, and the wider community.”

As healthcare facilities continue to face increasing challenges, initiatives like the Code Blue Skills Training serve as benchmarks for quality and preparedness. LifeCare Hospitals Eldoret remains committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, safety, and excellence, setting a standard for emergency readiness in healthcare institutions across Kenya.
