Sifuna Thanks Kenyans for Solidarity Amid Political Pressure

Edwin Sifuna, the Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has thanked Kenyans for their growing show of support, saying their solidarity reassures him during what he described as a challenging political period.

In a statement shared on Saturday, Sifuna expressed appreciation to citizens who have embraced the phrase “Nyinyi ndio Sifuna,” loosely translated as “You are Sifuna.” He said the message symbolizes collective responsibility in defending democratic values and protecting the interests of the public.

“I want to thank Kenyans for saying ‘Nyinyi ndio Sifuna.’ You give me comfort that even if they finish me today, there will be 15 million Sifunas to protect Kenyans,” he said.

The ODM Secretary General noted that the slogan reflects public awareness and engagement in national affairs, emphasizing that leadership is not centered on one individual but on the collective will of the people.

Sifuna’s remarks come amid heightened political discourse in Kenya, where opposition leaders have continued to call for accountability and adherence to constitutional principles. He reaffirmed ODM’s commitment to championing transparency, good governance, and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Political analysts say the statement signals an effort by the opposition party to consolidate grassroots backing while reinforcing its message of people-driven leadership.

Sifuna maintained that the party’s strength lies in its supporters, adding that public unity remains central to safeguarding the country’s democratic space.
