ODM Condemns Fatal Police Shooting of 28-Year-Old in Kitengela

Leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have condemned the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in Kitengela, describing the incident as unjustified and calling for accountability.

In a statement released Sunday, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the party was deeply saddened by the death of Vincent Ayomo, who was allegedly shot by police officers during an incident in the town.

Sifuna termed the killing “senseless and needless,” sending condolences to Ayomo’s family and demanding a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“We stand with the family of Vincent during this difficult time and demand justice and accountability. No Kenyan should lose their life in this manner,” Sifuna said.

He further criticized the administration of President William Ruto, accusing it of failing to address what he described as a growing pattern of excessive use of force by security agencies.

ODM called on the National Police Service to immediately provide a detailed account of the events leading to the fatal shooting and urged relevant oversight bodies to ensure those responsible are held to account.

By press time, police had not issued a comprehensive public statement on the incident. Residents in Kitengela have expressed concern over the shooting as investigations continue.
