PS Roseline Njogu Highlights Role of Diaspora-Owned Enterprises in Skills Development During Visit to Australia
Principal Secretary for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. Roseline Njogu, has underscored the critical role of diaspora-owned enterprises in bridging Kenya and host countries during a visit to Auscare Training Organisation, a Kenyan-owned enterprise based in Perth, Australia.
Auscare, led by entrepreneur Ms. Veronicah De Boer, also operates a branch in Mombasa, Kenya, and specializes in the recruitment and placement of seasonal and permanent staff in Aged Care, Acute Care, Home and Community Care, Disability Services, and the Hospitality sector.
During the visit, discussions focused on preparing Kenyan workers for Australia’s labour market by equipping them with skills aligned to the country’s education and immigration standards, ensuring competitiveness and readiness.
PS Njogu commended Ms. De Boer for her initiative, noting that it reflects the high skill, dedication, and global impact of Kenya’s diaspora. “Diaspora-owned enterprises like Auscare are crucial bridges between Kenya and host nations, advancing skills development, fostering economic growth, and creating international partnerships that benefit both countries,” said PS Njogu.
She was accompanied by Amb. Dr. Wilson Kogo, Kenya High Commissioner to Australia, and Mr. Fred Eshikuta, Deputy Head of Mission, during the visit.
The meeting demonstrated how diaspora-led initiatives can support Kenya’s workforce globally while promoting knowledge exchange, international collaboration, and opportunities for economic advancement at home and abroad.
