Law Society of Kenya Hosts 4th Annual Kenya–UK Legal Symposium
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK), led by its President Faith Odhiambo, has successfully concluded the 4th Annual Kenya–UK Legal Symposium, an event co-convened with the Bar Council of England and Wales to deepen bilateral collaboration in the legal sector.
This year’s symposium brought together distinguished legal practitioners from both Kenya and the United Kingdom for high-level discussions centred on four transformative themes reshaping the modern legal landscape:
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and cross-practice insights
- Corporate compliance
- Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and climate change
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The panels featured seasoned experts who shared comparative perspectives and practical strategies to help legal professionals adapt to global trends, leverage emerging opportunities, and respond effectively to complex legal challenges.
President Odhiambo highlighted the symposium as a cornerstone in the long-term partnership between LSK and the Bar Council of England and Wales. She emphasized the importance of nurturing a “confident and globally engaged Kenyan Bar,” noting that Kenyan lawyers must remain deeply grounded in the country’s constitutional framework while staying aligned with evolving international standards.
She also expressed the Society’s gratitude to the Bar of England and Wales for its continued cooperation, reaffirming optimism for future joint initiatives aimed at strengthening professional development and enhancing the global competitiveness of the Kenyan legal fraternity.
The annual symposium continues to serve as a platform for fostering international dialogue, promoting legal excellence, and reinforcing cross-border professional ties.
