Kiambu Woman Representative Ann Wamuratha today joined Her Excellency Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for the official inauguration of the Conduit Satellite Data Hub.

This groundbreaking initiative marks a major leap forward in the application of data-driven technology to address the urgent challenges of climate change. The hub aims to empower local communities, safeguard ecosystems, and foster sustainable peace through real-time environmental monitoring and early warning systems.

“This is a proud and promising moment for Kiambu and Kenya at large. The Conduit Satellite Data Hub will be instrumental in shaping evidence-based solutions to climate challenges while opening doors for innovation and community resilience,” said Hon. Wamuratha.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. Victoria Ngumi, Vice Chancellor of JKUAT, alongside H.E. Kimani Wamatangi, Governor of Kiambu County, and a host of other national and county leaders. Their collective presence highlighted the shared commitment to climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and technological advancement.

President Pirc Musar’s visit underscored the critical role of international cooperation in addressing global environmental concerns. Her support for the initiative reflects Slovenia’s dedication to fostering partnerships that promote sustainability and long-term peace.

Hon. Wamuratha reaffirmed her resolve to advocate for bold, climate-smart innovations that improve livelihoods, strengthen local economies, and secure the future for generations to come.

“This is not just about technology—it’s about transformation. It’s about empowering our farmers, educating our youth, and protecting our environment,” she stated.

The Conduit Satellite Data Hub is expected to significantly bolster Kenya’s capacity for disaster preparedness, data-driven policymaking, and climate-responsive development planning. The launch represents a meaningful step toward achieving Kenya’s sustainable development goals and elevating its global standing in environmental leadership.
