DP Kithure Kindiki: Development Track Record, Not Slogans, Will Define 2027 Elections

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has declared that the next general election will be won on the strength of leaders’ development track records, not on populist slogans or political revenge missions.

Speaking during a public address in Nyeri County, Kindiki underscored that Kenyans have matured politically and are no longer swayed by tribal alliances or emotional rhetoric, but by results that impact their daily lives.

“What will count in the next election is one’s track record of pushing forward the development agenda of Kenyans across all the 47 counties,” Kindiki stated firmly.

The Deputy President said that the country has no time for divisive politics or leaders fixated on power struggles, adding that schemes to determine who serves for how long, or vengeful narratives, will not resonate with the Kenyan voter in 2027.

“Kenya will not care about empty slogans or revenge plots. We have moved past that. What the people want is access to good healthcare, education, jobs, food security, and security,” he said.

Kindiki’s comments come amid growing political tensions and early maneuvering ahead of the 2027 general elections. He appeared to caution politicians already deep in campaign mode, warning that the public is watching and evaluating every leader’s performance — not promises.

He called on public servants, elected leaders, and aspiring politicians to put the country first, and focus on service delivery, warning that the electorate is increasingly issue-driven and will no longer be manipulated by political theatrics.

“It’s not about who shouts the loudest. It’s about who works the hardest. The people of Kenya want to see roads built, hospitals equipped, children in school, and farmers supported — not insults or conspiracy politics.”

Kindiki praised President William Ruto for staying focused on development despite distractions, and reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and economic transformation.

“Our duty is to deliver, not to entertain. History will not judge us by how many headlines we made, but by how many lives we changed.”

The Deputy President concluded his remarks by urging Kenyans to remain united, calling tribalism and political revenge “old and dangerous tools” that have no place in modern governance.“We must protect the soul of this nation — unity, peace, and prosperity. Let leaders rise above self-interest and serve with purpose.”

Kindiki's firm message sets the tone for what is likely to be a development-focused campaign period, with increasing pressure on all leaders to show tangible results rather than rely on political theatrics to win public support.
