DCI Queens Celebrate Historic Silver Finish at KVF Finals

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Women’s Volleyball team is celebrating a historic milestone after clinching silver in the 2024/2025 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League Finals. In a thrilling debut appearance at the championship stage, the DCI Queens delivered a spirited performance, finishing second to former champions Kenya Pipeline in a dramatic best-of-three series.

Established in 2018, the DCI team has steadily risen through the ranks, and their journey to the finals at the iconic Kasarani Indoor Arena marks their most significant achievement yet. The Queens pushed the seasoned Kenya Pipeline squad to the edge in a nail-biting five-set showdown in the second game of the series. Despite their resilience and powerful comeback attempt, the DCI side narrowly missed out on the title, with Pipeline holding firm in the decisive set to reclaim their championship crown.

While the final outcome may not have favored the Detectives, the DCI camp was all smiles as they celebrated their first-ever podium finish. Their silver medal is not only a reflection of their growth but also a signal of intent to challenge for the top prize in future competitions.

Individual brilliance was also on full display. DCI’s Sarah Namisi was named Best Server, while Sharon Jeruto earned the Best Outside Hitter accolade for their standout performances throughout the tournament. Additionally, the team had four players — Namisi, Mercy Iminza, Vivian Vukutsa, and Peninah Barasa — called up to the provisional squad of the national team, the Malkia Strikers.

Head Coach Patrick Sang expressed immense pride in his squad, praising their tenacity and growth. “This is just the beginning,” he said. “The girls have shown that they belong at the top, and with this kind of spirit, we are ready for more.”

Echoing his sentiments, Team Manager Neddy Kilimo hailed the achievement as a breakthrough. “Second place is not the destination; it is the foundation. The girls have had a taste of the podium, and now, we set our eyes on gold.”

With momentum on their side, the DCI Queens are now shifting focus to the upcoming Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament playoffs. The team is also preparing for their debut at the African Volleyball Club Championship, where they aim to make a powerful statement on the continental stage.

Though they may have fallen just short of the title, the DCI Queens have emerged as one of the most exciting teams in Kenyan volleyball — not only for their performance on the court but for the hearts they’ve won off it.
