Kiambu Woman Representative Ann Wamuratha continued her grassroots empowerment drive with a visit to Nachu in Kikuyu Subcounty, where she led a series of impactful initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and restoring dignity for residents.
In a vibrant event that drew hundreds of locals, Wamuratha distributed foodstuffs to all attendees, ensuring that no one went home empty-handed. Her approach emphasized not just giving, but giving with dignity.
In her commitment to improving education and sanitation, the Woman Rep donated three water tanks to Nachu, Gatune, and Ndiguini schools. These will enhance access to clean water, a key pillar for healthy learning environments.
Recognizing the challenges faced by girls in maintaining school attendance, Wamuratha's office provided sanitary towels to learners at Karai Mixed and Gichuru Memorial Secondary Schools. This gesture is aimed at supporting the dignity of girls and keeping them focused on their studies.
Further demonstrating her dedication to education, she offered a full scholarship to a bright but needy student who had dropped out due to fee arrears. The move was hailed as a life-changing intervention.
Elderly members of the community were not left behind, as Wamuratha distributed blankets to offer them warmth and comfort.
The highlight of the day was the empowerment of a young orphan, Cecilia, who is being raised by her grandmother. Moved by her story, Wamuratha gifted her a blow dryer and hair dryer, and pledged support to help her launch a small salon business a step toward self-reliance.
“Sometimes it’s the small acts of kindness that spark big change,” Wamuratha said. Her ongoing outreach across Kiambu continues to reflect her brand of leadership rooted in compassion, empowerment, and action.
