Women, Youth and PWDs Benefit as Joyce Kamene Rolls Out NGAAF Cheques in Masinga

Machakos County Woman Representative Joyce Kamene on Thursday continued the second day of the Machakos County Groups’ Cheques Issuance Programme in Masinga Sub-County under the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), with organised community groups receiving financial support aimed at transforming livelihoods.

The empowerment exercise targeted groups from Muthesya and Ndithini wards, where beneficiaries received funding to support small businesses, women empowerment projects and youth-led income-generating activities.

Speaking during the programme, Hon. Kamene said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to economically uplift vulnerable groups and strengthen household incomes across Machakos County through targeted empowerment programmes.

The first event was held at Lunguleni Market Shade in Muthesya Ward from 9.30am before the delegation proceeded to Redeemed Gospel Church Kivingo in Ndithini Ward for the afternoon session.

Kamene noted that the NGAAF programme continues to play a critical role in supporting women, youth and persons living with disabilities through direct financial assistance to organised grassroots groups.

She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring development reaches every corner of Machakos County, adding that empowering local groups remains key to fighting poverty and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

Residents and local leaders who attended the exercise welcomed the initiative, saying the funds would help expand businesses, improve savings groups and boost community development projects within the area.

The cheque issuance programme is expected to continue in other parts of the county as more groups benefit from the NGAAF empowerment initiative.
