Residents of Kiborokwo Village in Segero/Barsombe Ward, Soy Constituency, were moved by a heartfelt visit from Women Representative aspirant Hon. Reginah Chumba, who spent time with the family of 27-year-old Diana Chelimo, a woman living with severe disability.

During the visit, Reginah Chumba expressed deep admiration for the unwavering commitment shown by the family of James Tapkei, who have continued to care for Diana despite the economic and emotional challenges involved.

Speaking after meeting the family, Chumba said she was touched by the love, patience, and sacrifice demonstrated by the caregivers, describing their dedication as a true example of humanity and compassion.

She noted that families taking care of persons living with severe disabilities often face enormous struggles in silence and called upon leaders, well-wishers, and members of the community to come together in supporting them.

“Families caring for people with severe disabilities need our love, encouragement, and assistance. We must stand with them and ensure they do not feel forgotten,” she said.

Chumba further revealed that she is exploring possible ways of offering support to Diana Chelimo and her family to help ease their burden and improve her wellbeing.

The visit highlighted the daily realities faced by many families in rural communities who continue to care for loved ones with disabilities with limited resources and little external support.

Residents who witnessed the visit praised the gesture, saying it brought hope and recognition to families that often feel overlooked.

Hon. Reginah Chumba concluded by praying for blessings upon the family of James Tapkei for their compassion, sacrifice, and unwavering humanity in caring for Diana.
