TENP Strengthens Digital Future Through Strategic ICT Partnership with Safaricom
The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) on Friday, 20th February 2026, hosted a high-level delegation from Safaricom PLC for a consultative meeting aimed at reviewing the progress of internet service provision to the institution following the award of tender to the telecommunications firm.
The Safaricom delegation was led by Mr. Paul Okayo, Squad Lead – Lake Basin and Rift, and comprised Mr. Stephen Karanja, Regional Sales Lead – North Rift, and Mr. Boaz Kipchoge, Solutions Architect Engineer. They were received by the Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, alongside Deputy Principal (Administration) Mr. Paul Seurey, MIS Manager Mr. Ken Mutai, and Supply Chain Manager Mr. Charles Rutto.
The engagement focused on assessing the milestones achieved since the commencement of the project and reviewing the performance of the upgraded internet services across the institution. Discussions centered on strengthening bandwidth capacity, enhancing network stability, improving cybersecurity safeguards, and ensuring reliable connectivity in classrooms, workshops, laboratories, administrative offices, and student access areas.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Koech emphasized that robust digital infrastructure is critical in advancing the polytechnic’s mandate of delivering quality technical and vocational education. He noted that reliable internet connectivity plays a pivotal role in supporting e-learning platforms, digital research, online assessments, virtual collaboration, and efficient institutional management systems.
“As a forward-thinking institution, we are committed to creating a modern and technology-driven training environment,” he stated. “This partnership is not only about connectivity but about empowering our students and staff with the digital tools necessary to thrive in today’s knowledge-based economy.”
Deputy Principal Mr. Seurey highlighted the importance of seamless connectivity in streamlining administrative processes, including admissions, finance, procurement, and communication systems. He observed that improved internet services would enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within the institution.
From a technical standpoint, MIS Manager Mr. Mutai noted that the upgraded connectivity would significantly support blended learning approaches, online examinations, digital content management systems, and cloud-based institutional platforms. He added that stable and high-speed internet is essential in positioning TENP as a competitive and innovative center of excellence in TVET training.
The Safaricom team reaffirmed their commitment to delivering scalable and sustainable connectivity solutions tailored to the institution’s evolving needs. Mr. Okayo assured the management of continued technical support, proactive monitoring, and system optimization to guarantee uninterrupted service delivery.
The consultative meeting also explored opportunities for future collaboration in digital innovation initiatives and capacity building, reinforcing a shared vision of building a resilient and future-ready ICT ecosystem at TENP.
The partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening TENP’s ICT capacity and aligns with its broader commitment to embracing digital transformation in teaching, learning, research, and institutional operations.
