KISE, Sense International Kenya Sign MoU to Boost Support for Children with Deafblindness

The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sense International Kenya to strengthen support for children with deafblindness and multisensory impairments across the country.

The agreement was signed by KISE Director General Norman Kiogora, who said the partnership marks a significant step in advancing inclusive education, with a strong focus on early intervention and play-based learning.

Under the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate to enhance assessment, programming, capacity-building, and service delivery, aimed at improving learning outcomes and ensuring sustainable, inclusive support for children with complex sensory needs.

“This collaboration reinforces our commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, particularly those with unique and complex learning needs,” Mr Kiogora said.

The MoU signing brought together senior leadership from both institutions, including Daniel Sanoe, Deputy Director – Programmes at KISE; Daniel Musango, Country Lead at Sense International Kenya; Mellen Marucha, Senior Programme Coordinator; and Nyaboke Faith, Early Intervention Programmes Lead.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment by KISE and Sense International Kenya to strengthen early identification, intervention, and inclusive learning approaches, aligning with national education priorities and global best practices.
