Ichung’wah Launches Scathing Attack on Education PS Julius Bitok During Heated Exchange

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has launched a sharp public attack on Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, accusing him of incompetence and being disconnected from realities on the ground.

Speaking during a charged engagement with Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, Ichung’wah did not mince his words, describing Bitok as “the most useless PS in Kenya” and blaming him for what he termed as poor implementation of education policies.

“You have the most clueless PS in the Ministry of Education,” Ichung’wah said. “He only sits in Nairobi and has no idea what happens on the ground. Get out of your offices in Nairobi, go to the ground and deal with the problems there.”

The outspoken remarks came amid ongoing concerns over challenges facing the education sector, including school transitions, infrastructure gaps, teacher deployment, and policy implementation under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Ichung’wah accused senior officials in the ministry of being overly bureaucratic and detached from the day-to-day struggles faced by learners, teachers, and school administrators across the country. He urged the Education CS to demand greater accountability and field engagement from top ministry officials.

The comments sparked immediate debate, with some lawmakers backing Ichung’wah’s call for hands-on leadership, while others cautioned against the tone of the remarks, urging respect for public officers and institutional processes.
