Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga Launches Galentine Care Sanitary Pads Factory in Kasgunga

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has officially launched the Galentine Care Sanitary Pads Factory in Kasgunga, Suba North, a move she says will address critical menstrual health needs while creating local economic opportunities.

The social enterprise was made possible through the efforts of Peter Omondi McOdida and his network, and aims to produce affordable, high-quality Galentine Care Pads that are ultra-thin, leak-free, and soft, providing dignified menstrual care for women and girls across the region.

Speaking during the launch, Governor Wanga hailed the facility as a milestone in women’s empowerment and community development. “This factory meets a vital community need. It ensures that girls and women have access to safe and dignified sanitary products, which is fundamental to health, education, and equality,” she said.

The Governor also emphasized the broader economic impact of the project, noting that it demonstrates Homa Bay’s readiness for investment and fosters the growth of local industries that can generate employment and boost the county’s economy.

“This is more than a factory; it is a statement that Homa Bay is open for business. We are committed to supporting initiatives that empower our communities and create sustainable economic opportunities,” Governor Wanga added.

The launch was attended by community leaders, stakeholders, and residents, all of whom applauded the initiative as a transformative step toward improved menstrual health, economic empowerment, and local industry growth in Homa Bay County.

Governor Wanga encouraged other investors to emulate this model, highlighting its potential to combine social impact with business success while improving lives in the county and beyond.
