Uhuru Kenyatta Warns Jubilee Members Against Insults, Urges Focus on Unity and Discipline

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned members of the Jubilee Party against using insults and personal attacks, particularly targeting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying such conduct will not be tolerated within the party.

Speaking during a Jubilee grassroots meeting held at Thika Greens in Kiambu County, Uhuru emphasized the need for discipline, respect, and unity as the party works to rebuild its image and reconnect with supporters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“I don’t want that kind of behavior in Jubilee,” he said. “If you don’t agree with someone, you don’t have to insult them. Let’s focus on issues that build our country and strengthen our party.”

The former head of state directed the party’s Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, to ensure that all members observe decorum and uphold political maturity. He warned that any leader who continues to engage in disrespectful behavior under the guise of defending the party would face disciplinary action, including possible suspension or expulsion.

Sources within Jubilee indicated that Uhuru’s remarks followed a series of online exchanges in which some party members were accused of mocking Deputy President Gachagua. The move is seen as part of Uhuru’s broader strategy to restore order and unity in the party as it seeks to reassert itself on the national political stage.

Uhuru also used the meeting to encourage young people, especially members of Generation Z, to take an active role in politics and leadership. He said the youth have the potential to transform Kenya’s political landscape by prioritizing service, integrity, and hard work over insults and tribal divisions.

“I want to see young leaders who are ready to lead with honesty and hard work, not those who only make noise online,” he said.

Uhuru’s remarks signal a renewed effort to reposition Jubilee as a disciplined, issue-based political movement. Despite his retirement from active politics, the former president’s influence within the party remains evident as he continues to guide its rebranding and reorganization efforts.
