Tinderet MP Aspirant Shadrack Maritim Reported Missing After Morning Run
Police in Nandi County have launched a search for Tinderet Member of Parliament aspirant Shadrack Maritim, who was reported missing on Monday morning, October 27, after failing to return from his routine morning run.
According to family members, Mr. Maritim left his home early that morning for his usual jog but did not return as expected. His phone has remained switched off since his disappearance, sparking growing concern among relatives, friends, and supporters.
“He left around 6 a.m. for his normal run, something he does every day. But hours later, we couldn’t reach him on the phone, and that’s when we got worried,” said a close family member who requested anonymity.
Local leaders and residents have joined efforts with the police to locate the missing politician, who was preparing to contest the Tinderet parliamentary seat in the upcoming general election.
Nandi County Police Commander confirmed that a formal missing person report has been filed, and a multi-agency search operation has been launched.
“We are actively investigating the disappearance of Mr. Maritim. Our officers are pursuing all leads, and we urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station,” the commander said.
Search teams, including local volunteers, have combed areas around Tinderet’s jogging trails and nearby forests, but no leads have yet been found.
The disappearance has caused anxiety in the constituency, where Mr. Maritim was seen as an emerging political figure known for his grassroots mobilization and youth engagement initiatives.
