Uasin Gishu County hospitals receive lifesaving equipment from AMREF

Healthcare delivery in Uasin Gishu County has received a major boost following the donation of vital medical equipment from AMREF Health Africa to the county government.

The consignment, handed over on Wednesday, includes state-of-the-art patient monitors and oxygen analyzers that will be distributed to several key facilities, among them Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital, Moi Bridge Hospital, Chepkanga Health Centre, and Chepkigen Health Centre.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Joseph Lagat, commended AMREF for its continued support and partnership in improving healthcare services across the county.

“This generous contribution from AMREF will greatly enhance service delivery in our facilities. It will empower our healthcare workers with the tools they need to monitor patients effectively, especially in high-dependency and maternity units,” said Lagat.

He noted that the donation aligns with the county’s goal of strengthening its health systems and improving patient outcomes, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Dr. Paul Wangwe, highlighted the significance of such collaborations in achieving sustainable healthcare outcomes.

“The equipment will not only improve patient monitoring and emergency response but will also support preventive and promotive health programs through accurate data and timely interventions,” said Dr. Wangwe.

Representatives from AMREF and the national Ministry of Health also attended the event. Dr. Sarah Mwangi from the Ministry and Mr. Titus Kiptai from AMREF reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and strengthening local health systems.

“Access to reliable medical equipment is key to saving lives,” said Kiptai. “We are proud to support Uasin Gishu County in advancing health equity and quality care for all.”

The initiative is part of AMREF Health Africa’s broader mission to empower communities and improve access to essential health services, contributing to Kenya’s ongoing efforts toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
