Moisbridge MCA Bishop Kimeli Sets Ambitious Plans to Transform Ward into a City, Traders Laud His Leadership

Moisbridge Ward is set for a major infrastructural transformation, according to Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. Patrick Kimeli, popularly known as Bishop Kimeli. The MCA has unveiled plans to upgrade key roads, improve trade infrastructure, and enhance overall service delivery — a move that has been warmly welcomed by local traders and residents.

Speaking exclusively to the press, Kimeli revealed that Pakawa Street, which connects to the main road at Duka Moja, will be constructed using bitumen. This project is the first phase of a broader initiative to modernize roads across Moisbridge Ward, which he says is key to boosting trade, transport, and urban development.

“We are going to construct the Pakawa Street road using bitumen. Other main roads are on our plans. We want to improve our infrastructure in Moisbridge and transform our ward into a city,” he said, adding that the projects will be rolled out in phases to ensure efficiency and sustainability.

The MCA emphasized that his administration is committed to promoting trade, investment, and the welfare of the less privileged. He stressed that the projects are not only about roads but also about creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive and residents enjoy improved quality of life.

Before Kimeli assumed office, many residents in Moisbridge faced high and often unfair taxes, particularly small-scale business owners. Opening a small enterprise, such as a barbershop or kiosk, was a challenge due to exorbitant licensing fees. Residents recount paying sums that made it nearly impossible to sustain small businesses.

“Before Bishop became our MCA, we were paying a lot of money to the county government for a licence. We were really suffering, but today the amount has been reduced to fit our pockets, courtesy of the Bishop,” said a local barber, speaking at Moisbridge Shopping Centre.

The reduction in fees has been a welcome relief for many traders, who say it has allowed them to expand their businesses, employ more people, and better provide for their families. Women traders, in particular, praised Kimeli for protecting their livelihoods when there were attempts to relocate them from the main trading areas.

“We have never had such a good leader here in Moisbridge. He is always available and listens to our cries. We have never been abandoned in the hour of need. We are still in this market because of him,” said a woman trader, vowing to support Kimeli in the 2027 elections and describing him as a “captain of equality.”

Residents also pointed out that Kimeli’s hands-on leadership style sets him apart from previous representatives. He is known for personally engaging with communities, listening to grievances, and taking concrete steps to address them. Many credit him for restoring confidence in local governance and ensuring that the voices of ordinary residents are heard and acted upon.

The MCA’s vision for Moisbridge goes beyond road construction. It includes improving drainage systems, expanding market spaces, enhancing street lighting, and promoting urban planning that aligns with the goal of transforming the ward into a city. Experts say that if implemented effectively, these projects could turn Moisbridge into a vibrant urban hub, attracting investments, creating jobs, and improving the overall standard of living.

“Our goal is to make Moisbridge Ward a model of development in the county. Infrastructure, trade, and good governance will work hand in hand to create a city that we can all be proud of,” Kimeli said.

As these initiatives take shape, traders, residents, and investors alike are optimistic about the ward’s future. Many believe that with Bishop Kimeli at the helm, Moisbridge is on the path to rapid economic growth and urban transformation, setting a benchmark for other wards in the region.
