LSK Sets February 2026 Elections to Replace President Faith Odhiambo and Council

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has announced the commencement of the process to elect a new leadership team, marking the end of the current council’s term led by President Faith Odhiambo, whose tenure officially concludes in March 2026.

In a notice issued to members, the society confirmed that elections will be conducted in February 2026 in accordance with the Law Society of Kenya Act, 2014. The exercise will see members choose a new president, vice president, and several council representatives from the Nairobi, upcountry, and Coast regions.

The move sets the stage for a leadership transition within the country’s top legal body, which represents thousands of advocates across Kenya.

“The Society has declared vacant the positions of president, vice president, and council representatives in line with statutory requirements ahead of the elections,” the notice reads in part.

Faith Odhiambo, who was elected in March 2024, has led the LSK through a period marked by active engagement in constitutional issues, judicial independence, and legal sector reforms. Her successor will inherit key responsibilities, including steering the Society’s relationship with the Judiciary and the Executive, and safeguarding the rule of law amid evolving national debates.

The LSK Secretariat is expected to issue a detailed election timetable in the coming weeks, including nomination deadlines and campaign regulations.
