Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Sholei hails Judiciary’s reforms, reaffirms Parliament’s commitment to supporting justice sector
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gladys Boss Sholei, today lauded the Judiciary for its continued strides in strengthening the administration of justice, following the launch of the Annual State of the Judiciary and the Administration of Justice Report for FY2024/25.
Representing the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, Hon. Sholei described the report as a “clear and candid reflection” of the Judiciary’s progress, noting major milestones in digitisation, case backlog reduction, and people-centred justice reforms. She highlighted initiatives in mediation and alternative justice systems as critical in easing the burden on courts and improving access to justice for all Kenyans.
“I commend the Judiciary for this steady and deliberate work,” she said, emphasising that the reforms signal a strengthened resolve across state institutions to promote fairness, efficiency, and accountability within the justice system.
Hon. Sholei further reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to fostering strong inter-branch cooperation, underscoring Parliament’s readiness to work closely with both the Judiciary and the Executive to enhance service delivery in the justice sector.
“On behalf of the National Assembly, I reaffirm our unwavering readiness to collaborate with the Judiciary and the Executive,” she stated. “Parliament remains committed to legislation and funding that safeguard judicial independence, strengthen human capacity, and deliver permanent, purpose-built court infrastructure, ensuring every Kenyan can access timely and dignified justice.”
She noted that Parliament’s support will continue to prioritise long-term investment in modern courts, digital systems, and workforce development—critical components for a responsive and resilient justice system.
The release of the FY2024/25 Judiciary Report marks yet another step in ongoing institutional reforms aimed at broadening access to justice and improving efficiency across the country’s courts and tribunals. Hon. Sholei reiterated that such progress is only possible through collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to serving Kenyans.
