The Chief Principal of The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP), Dr. Charles Koech, OGW, today hosted Mr. Charles Maru from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) for a high-level consultative meeting aimed at exploring the institution’s potential transition from ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) to the more education-specific ISO 21001:2018 Education Organizations Management System.
The meeting, held at TENP’s main campus, focused on aligning the polytechnic's management and certification framework with global best practices in educational quality assurance and institutional effectiveness.
Dr. Koech welcomed the KEBS representative, emphasizing TENP’s commitment to continuous improvement and academic excellence through internationally recognized standards.
“As an institution, we are dedicated to quality service delivery, and the transition to ISO 21001:2018 would allow us to better align our systems with the unique needs of learners and other education stakeholders,” said Dr. Koech.
ISO 21001:2018 is a management system standard specifically designed for educational organizations. It focuses on improving learner satisfaction through the effective application of educational processes, including continual improvement and conformity to learner and regulatory requirements.
Also present during the meeting were Mrs. Kimutai Catherine, Management Representative (MR), and Mr. Sisimwo Joshua, Deputy Management Representative (Deputy MR), who expressed their support for the transition process and highlighted its potential to further enhance institutional governance and academic outcomes.
Mr. Maru commended TENP for its proactive approach to quality management and assured the institution of KEBS’ technical support throughout the evaluation and certification process.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing compliance measures and discussed future plans for maintaining and enhancing the institution’s certification profile.
