Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has come out strongly against the government and security forces following the shooting of a protester during ongoing demonstrations in Nairobi.
Speaking shortly after reports confirmed that a young demonstrator had been shot by police, Amisi condemned what he termed a "rogue regime" for using excessive force against unarmed citizens. He also took aim at Kenyans and police officers who he said have chosen to side with brutality instead of standing for justice.
"These Kenyans and police officers who have accepted to partner with a rogue regime to maim, destroy property, clobber, and kill young innocent Kenyans—what is wrong with you, bwana?" Amisi asked in a fiery statement.
The MP warned that the nation is on a dangerous path, likening the current state of unrest to conditions in conflict-ridden countries. "You are cheering our country to become Haiti or Sudan. We have no spare nation."
Amisi’s remarks come amid escalating tension across the country as protesters—largely youth-led—continue to demand justice for Albert Ojwang, who allegedly died in police custody, and broader reforms including police accountability and respect for constitutional rights.
Calling for urgent national transformation, Amisi added, "Kenya needs a renaissance now!" urging leaders and citizens alike to rise above violence and work toward rebuilding a nation grounded in justice, dignity, and human rights.
Calls for an independent investigation into the shootings and rising incidents of police brutality have intensified, with human rights groups also demanding immediate action and restraint from the government.
