Kapsaret Residents Get Ksh.45 Million Boost in Massive Empowerment Drive Led by MP Oscar Sudi

Thousands of residents in Kapsaret Constituency were on Saturday the beneficiaries of a sweeping economic empowerment initiative worth Ksh.45 million, as local MP Oscar Sudi distributed tools and machinery to support small-scale enterprises. The initiative coincided with a separate Ksh.100 million fundraiser aimed at advancing local development projects.

The high-profile event was marked by energy, celebration, and a message of economic transformation from the bottom up — in line with President William Ruto’s Hustler Nation philosophy.

Among the items distributed were 100 motorcycles, two vehicles, 400 sewing machines, 500 car wash machines, maize milling posho mills, milk cans, water tanks, egg and sausage vending kits, and deep fryers. All equipment was given out free of charge to local groups and individuals, including mama mbogas, boda boda riders, artisans, shoe shiners, and other small-scale traders.

“Let me be clear — not a single coin came from government funds,” MP Sudi said. “This is from my own resources and contributions from close friends. Ignore the lies being spread online.”

The event drew thousands of residents from across Kapsaret, many of whom said the tools would help them grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe lauded the initiative and dismissed critics of grassroots-focused development projects.

“I see women, youth, and the elderly benefitting. Others are just making noise while real transformation is happening,” he remarked.

The event also became a stage for political messaging, with multiple leaders praising President Ruto while criticizing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whom they accused of promoting divisive politics.

Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina launched a scathing attack, saying:

“Ati pesa lazima zitoke kwa William Ruto ndio empowerment ifanyike? Wamunyoro, show us one project you did when in office. Wewe potea pekee yako.”

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah weighed in, declaring:

“To those dividing Kenyans by tribe in the name of empowerment — we say, Satan is defeated!”

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi added:“President William Ruto has managed to run the country while engaging with the opposition. That’s leadership.
