Gathoni Wamuchomba Demands Immediate Arrest of Senior Police Officer in Albert Ojwang' Custody Scandal

By John Kariuki

Outspoken Githunguri Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has come out guns blazing, fiercely condemning the senior police officer responsible for the arrest and questionable transfer of Albert Ojwang' from Migori to Nairobi Central Police Station. The vocal legislator has called the officer’s actions not only illegal but shamefully abusive, demanding the officer’s immediate arrest and prosecution.

Wamuchomba minced no words in her condemnation. She questioned the sinister motives behind the abrupt transfer of Ojwang', asking, "What is so special about the cells in Nairobi that the ones in Migori could not accommodate? The police must stop behaving like they are above the law. They must be held accountable for this blatant abuse of power."

Her stinging rebuke comes as national outrage mounts over the mysterious circumstances surrounding Ojwang’s death while in police custody. The transfer, which appeared irregular and unnecessary, now stands as a symbol of the unchecked impunity that has long plagued sections of the police force.

Wamuchomba further castigated the police, branding the officer’s actions as a gross miscarriage of justice and a mockery of the Kenyan Constitution. She accused the officer of using the badge not to serve the people, but to trample on the rights of innocent Kenyans.

"This is not just negligence, it is calculated oppression. It is a disgrace to our justice system. That officer belongs in prison, not in uniform," she thundered.

Civil society groups, the Law Society of Kenya, and human rights activists have also joined in the uproar, demanding an immediate investigation and accountability for the deplorable handling of the case.

Wamuchomba’s fearless call has reignited the conversation on the urgent need to reform the police service and bring an end to the culture of intimidation, harassment, and illegal detentions.

Kenyans now wait anxiously to see whether the authorities will deliver justice or allow yet another shameful chapter to fade into silence.
