In a stirring show of unity and purpose, prominent national leaders converged in Kamagut Ward, Uasin Gishu County, for a transformative Women Empowerment Programme aimed at advancing economic inclusion and grassroots development.
Farouk Kibet, Personal Assistant to President William Ruto, joined the community alongside a high-powered delegation of national and county leaders, reinforcing the government’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
“It was an honor to be among the people of Kamagut this afternoon, standing with women who are the true pillars of our homes, our economy, and our future,” Kibet said. “When we invest in women, we unlock the full potential of our society.”
The event saw the mobilization of critical financial and material resources to support women-led initiatives, including savings groups, agribusiness ventures, and small-scale enterprises. Kibet underscored that financial empowerment is not just a policy objective—it is a transformative tool that fuels economic independence, dignity, and generational progress.
“Economically empowered women uplift families, fuel grassroots enterprise, and contribute meaningfully to social transformation,” he noted. “Supporting their growth is not only a moral obligation but a strategic investment in inclusive prosperity.”
Leaders in Solidarity for Gender Equity
The event was hosted by H.E. Governor Jonathan Bii of Uasin Gishu and attended by key national leaders, including H.E. Governor Johnson Sakaja of Nairobi, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah (National Assembly Majority Leader), and Hon. Silvanus Osoro (Chief Whip).
Also present were MPs Hon. Didmus Barasa, Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, Hon. Hiribae Said, Hon. Peter Lochakapong, Hon. Fatuma Zainab, Hon. Jane Kagiri, Hon. Doris Donya, Hon. Paul Abuor, Hon. John Bwire, Hon. Ali Wario Guyo, among others—highlighting a strong bipartisan and multi-county commitment to empowering Kenyan women at the grassroots level.
The event featured the launch of women’s enterprise support programs, business training workshops, and the distribution of financial tools to bolster ongoing income-generating projects.
Kibet praised Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi development blueprint for placing women and youth at the center of county policy. He further commended the leadership of President William Ruto, whose Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) continues to focus on lifting hustlers—including women entrepreneurs—from the grassroots to national participation.
“President Ruto’s vision is clear: no one should be left behind. Today’s gathering is a reflection of that promise in action—uplifting women, dignifying households, and building a resilient nation from the ground up,” Kibet said.
A Call to Sustain Momentum
Concluding his address, Farouk Kibet called on leaders across the country to replicate such initiatives in their respective counties, stating that empowering women is not a one-off event but a continuous journey.
“Let us keep walking with our women. Let us invest in them not just during campaigns, but every single day. That is how we build Kenya,” he emphasized.
