Charlene Ruto, daughter of President William Ruto, has joined countless Kenyans in mourning the death of Albert Ojwang, a rising youth leader whose untimely passing has sent shockwaves across the country.
In a heartfelt message shared on her official social media platforms Friday, Charlene expressed her sorrow and paid tribute to Ojwang’s legacy as a courageous, principled, and visionary young leader.
“Kenya has lost a bright soul. Albert Ojwang stood for truth, resilience, and a better future for our youth. My prayers are with his family and all those who were touched by his spirit,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Ojwang, widely recognized for his grassroots activism and commitment to youth empowerment, reportedly died earlier this week under circumstances that have not yet been fully disclosed. His death has triggered a nationwide wave of grief, with the hashtag #RIPAlbertOjwang trending on social media as Kenyans honor his life and contributions.
Known for his passionate work in education, community development, and youth advocacy, Ojwang was regarded as a rising star in civic leadership. His efforts were particularly impactful in marginalized communities, where he championed access to education and opportunities for young people.
Charlene Ruto, herself an active voice in youth engagement and climate advocacy, described Ojwang as “a symbol of hope and change” and called on young people to carry forward his vision for a better Kenya.
“His dedication to service, his voice of reason, and his fearless pursuit of justice will not be forgotten. He has lit a torch that we must now keep burning,” she added.
Tributes have poured in from political leaders, civil society, and fellow youth advocates, many of whom remembered Ojwang as a principled leader who never shied away from speaking truth to power.
Memorial arrangements are currently being coordinated by Ojwang’s family, with a public service expected to draw hundreds of mourners, including government officials, youth groups, and community leaders.
