Over 260 community groups in Moisbridge Ward have benefited from an ambitious empowerment initiative led by the area’s Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Patrick Kimeli. This week, focus turned to groups from Bondeni and Elharre, who received crucial equipment aimed at boosting their economic independence.
The empowerment initiative, which spans two financial years, has seen groups receive a variety of tools tailored to their specific trades, including incubators for poultry farming, welding machines, and washing machines. The latest batch of beneficiaries brings new hope to communities seeking self-reliance and sustainable income generation.
“Bondeni and Elharre are now among the over 260 groups that have been empowered through this program,” said Hon. Kimeli. “These tools are not just equipment; they are a step towards financial freedom and community development.”
The MCA emphasized that the program is part of a broader effort to combat unemployment and uplift livelihoods, especially among the youth and women. The distribution process is based on the expressed needs of the groups, ensuring that the support provided aligns with their business plans and goals.
The initiative has received positive feedback from the community, with beneficiaries praising the support as timely and impactful.
“This is a new beginning for our group,” said Sarah Cherono, a member of a Bondeni youth group that received a welding machine. “We now have the means to start our own workshop and earn a living.”
As the program continues to expand, Hon. Kimeli reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring every ward resident has access to tools and opportunities that enhance economic empowerment.
“This is about dignity, sustainability, and the future of our people,” he said. “We will continue walking this journey together.”
