Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based at Eldoret Central Police Station are on the hunt for a boda boda operator believed to be involved in a robbery incident reported in October 2023.
The suspect, identified as Edwin Juma Biketi, alias Rambo, is accused of masquerading as a boda boda rider while allegedly engaging in criminal activities. Juma, who operates within Eldoret town and resides around Kapsoiya Hill, is suspected of using the motorcycle taxi business as a cover for his unlawful dealings.
According to police reports filed under OB No. 47/24/10/23, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on October 20, 2023. Juma is said to have picked up a customer and dropped them off at Baharini, along the Eldoret-Uganda Road. After receiving payment via M-Pesa, Juma allegedly snatched the victim’s phone and fled the scene.
Investigators say the mobile line used to receive the payment — 0723 638 348 — has since been switched off. The suspect is now believed to be using a new phone number and continues to operate within the town, evading arrest.
The DCI is now appealing to local administrators, property managers, boda boda leadership, and fellow riders to assist in locating Juma. Authorities believe that with the support of the community, the suspect can be apprehended and brought to justice.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Edwin Juma Biketi is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Eldoret Central DCI office.
Police have warned that harboring a wanted suspect is a criminal offense and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
