CS Murkomen Visits Injured Police Officers, Affirms Government’s Commitment to Security Forces’ Welfare

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen marked Labour Day with a heartfelt visit to police officers recovering at Nairobi West Hospital after sustaining injuries in the line of duty. The officers were wounded while combating crime across different regions of the country, including one who was injured during Kenya’s peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

Accompanied by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat, and Deputy Inspector General of Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, CS Murkomen commended the bravery and sacrifice of the officers and pledged the government’s continued support.

“Our security officers sacrifice a lot to keep us safe and secure, and they deserve not just our gratitude but our full support. Today, I came to check on these brave men and women and assure them that their service will not go unrecognized,” Murkomen said.

In a show of solidarity, the CS also conveyed the government’s condolences to the families of five officers who recently lost their lives during operations in various parts of the country.

Murkomen reiterated the government’s commitment to security sector reforms aimed at improving the welfare of officers. These reforms include better working conditions, enhanced medical care, and improved remuneration.

“We are fully committed to ensuring our officers work in dignified conditions. Their welfare is paramount to a secure and stable nation,” he added.

The visit served as both a morale boost to the injured officers and a signal of the government’s resolve to stand by those who risk their lives daily to protect the nation.
