The County Government of Bomet is in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Chief Officer for Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning, CPA Eric Chepkwony, who collapsed and died in Nairobi on Wednesday evening.
Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, EGH, confirmed the untimely demise of the senior county official, expressing deep shock and sorrow over the loss.
“I received the news of Eric’s death in utter shock and disbelief. He was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to the development agenda of Bomet County was unmatched,” the governor stated.
Chepkwony, a Certified Public Accountant, had served diligently in the county government, playing a key role in driving financial and economic planning initiatives. His sudden passing is a major blow to the county administration.
The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, but sources close to the family indicate he collapsed while in Nairobi, where he had reportedly travelled on official duty.
Prof. Barchok extended his heartfelt condolences to Chepkwony’s family, friends, colleagues, the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), and all staff of the County Government of Bomet.
Messages of sympathy and tributes continued to pour in from leaders, colleagues, and residents who remembered him as a humble, professional, and visionary leader.
