As part of the Kenya Red Cross Society’s (KRCS) 60th anniversary celebrations, the North Rift region held its Annual General Meetings (AGMs) for both the Youth and Main Boards at the Boma Inn, Uasin Gishu County. The landmark event brought together delegates from all counties within the region to reflect on achievements, address ongoing challenges, and chart a unified path forward.
The day was marked by vibrant discussions on strategic priorities, resilience building, and deepened volunteer engagement. A key highlight was the Volunteer Hall of Fame, which honored individuals for their exceptional dedication and service to the humanitarian cause. Applause filled the room as volunteers were recognized for embodying the spirit of selfless service that defines KRCS.
In a strong display of democratic values, the AGMs concluded with elections conducted transparently and inclusively. Delegates actively participated in selecting new leaders to guide the region into its next chapter.
During his farewell remarks, the outgoing Regional Chairperson emphasized the importance of upholding the Society’s values: “As we transition through leadership during the upcoming elections, we remain committed to continuity, inclusion, and ethical governance that aligns with KRCS core values and the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.”
The event was both celebratory and reflective, as members paid tribute to the outgoing board for its dedicated service and extended heartfelt congratulations to the incoming leadership. The newly elected team now assumes the mantle of guiding the North Rift region through a period of continued growth and impact.
The AGMs reinforced KRCS’s enduring commitment to humanitarian excellence, volunteerism, and community resilience — key pillars that will continue to shape its future beyond 60 years of service.
