IGNIS CEO Visits Eldoret National Polytechnic to Explore Clean Cooking Collaboration

Eldoret National Polytechnic on Wednesday welcomed a high-profile visitor, Mr. Paul Osogo, the Chief Executive Officer of IGNIS, a leading clean energy technology firm. The visit marked the beginning of talks to establish a state-of-the-art hub for clean cooking at the institution, with a focus on cutting-edge electrified steam cooking technology.

Mr. Osogo was received by the institution's Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, along with Madam Muthuri from the Applied Research Department. The visit included a tour of the institution’s research and innovation facilities, followed by a closed-door meeting where discussions centered around the potential for collaboration in piloting and scaling clean cooking solutions.

The proposed partnership seeks to position Eldoret National Polytechnic as a regional leader in sustainable cooking technologies, with the electrified steam cooker touted as a game-changer in efforts to reduce reliance on charcoal and firewood in institutional and household kitchens.

“This visit is a timely step towards solving one of the most pressing environmental and public health challenges—access to clean and efficient cooking,” said Dr. Koech. “We are proud to explore a partnership that supports research, innovation, and the green economy, while directly improving the lives of our communities.”

Mr. Osogo expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that technical institutions like Eldoret National Polytechnic are ideal platforms for testing, adapting, and scaling clean technologies in real-world settings.

The proposed clean cooking hub will also serve as a training and demonstration center, equipping students and the local community with the skills and knowledge to adopt and advocate for sustainable energy solutions.

The visit underscores the polytechnic’s growing role as a catalyst for applied research and community development, especially in areas aligning with Kenya’s national goals on climate resilience, energy transition, and sustainable development.
