Tophill Hospital has stepped up its community and workplace health outreach after bringing together more than 250 leaders and professionals in Bungoma County for a Corporate Health Seminar focused on prevention, early detection and healthier workplaces.

The seminar brought together representatives from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police, Kenya Prisons, KUPPET, KNUT and KESSHA, alongside county and sub-county government officials.

Tophill Hospital Operations Manager Erick Ngeno, who represented the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer and Lead Surgeon Dr Florentius Koech, said the initiative was aimed at taking healthcare information and preventive services closer to people in their workplaces and communities.

Ngeno said the hospital believes that healthcare should go beyond treating patients after they become sick, stressing the importance of prevention, awareness and early intervention.

He said the Bungoma engagement provided an opportunity for professionals from different sectors to interact with healthcare experts and gain knowledge on issues affecting their health and wellbeing.

The seminar focused on key areas including brain and spine health, bone and joint wellness, mental health, disease prevention and early detection.

Ngeno noted that creating awareness among workers and institutional leaders can play an important role in encouraging people to seek medical attention early whenever they notice signs or symptoms of illness.

The Operations Manager said Tophill Hospital is committed to strengthening partnerships with institutions and communities as part of its strategy of making specialized healthcare knowledge more accessible.

The engagement also brought together professionals from different sectors, highlighting the need for workplaces to prioritize the physical and mental wellbeing of their employees.

Tophill Hospital said the Bungoma seminar is part of a wider initiative to take its health awareness programmes across the country.

The hospital intends to continue with the programme county by county, institution by institution and community by community, creating awareness on preventive healthcare and encouraging healthier lifestyles.

The hospital, which has a specialized Brain & Spine Centre, continues to provide specialized healthcare services while also promoting public awareness on prevention and early detection.

Ngeno said healthcare is not only about treatment but also about prevention, partnership and service, noting that stronger collaboration between hospitals, institutions and communities can contribute to healthier workplaces and healthier communities.

Tophill Hospital operates under the message “Exceptional Technology. Extraordinary Care,” with a focus on specialized healthcare, patient-centred services and taking healthcare beyond the hospital walls.
